Using Social Networking Sites To Build Your List Of Followers, Friends And Prospects In Three Simple Steps
Theres a lot of talk about social media marketing and a lot of debate about the ROI but here my take on why you should invest time, resources and energy into building a profile across different social networking platforms and how you can use your profile to drive traffic to your website.
It’s important to recognize from the outset that with so many social networking sites to choose from it’s easy to get a little confused at the party. So avoid, the games, gadgets and gathering of fools and you might just start to see the light of day in the social media landscape.
Here is a simple three step plan to make a success of your social media marketing campaign;
Number one, take a look at who you are before you start to look at others. Branding is essential to your success when using social networking platform as once you paint a picture of yourself on facebook, myspace or twitter you cannot change it if you decide you don’t like what you see. get it right from day one and it will pay big dividends down the road.
With so many social networking sites to choose from it would be easy to spread yourself too thin or to join the wrong site just to get the social media train moving, but this would be a big mistake. Take a good look at what’s out there and find out where your customers will be when you start to enter the room. If you don’t know where to look start with Google and you should find the answer.
Third, get in there and listen to whats being said before you start to speak. Theres a lot of noise online and to stand out from the crowd and develop a good social media marketing presence the first thing you need to do is listen. Take twitter as an example and its easy to see how few people have any real idea or knowledge of how to use this particular social networking site.
This is where the fun begins. Add value to the social media party. Entertain, educate and interract in a way that you would be happy with and the social community you’re speaking to will accept your networking efforts and listen to what you have to say.
